Universal Behavior of Quantum Impurity Scattering in Tomonaga-Luttinger Liquid

چکیده
Using bosonization and path integral methods, we study general low temperature behavior of non-magnetic and magnetic impurity scattering in Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid, and calculate electron Green function for a general backward scattering potential. We demonstrate that electron density of state near the impurity site is suppressed by the backward scattering, but it mainly remains invariant as far away from the impurity, and at zero temperature the electrons are completely reflected on the impurity site, the system breaks into two subsystems but rightand left-moving electron fields have a twisted boundary condition. We also show that a testing charge can only be partially screened by conduction electrons, and in strong interaction region the impurity susceptibility has a 1/T -type low temperature behavior. 78.70.Dm, 79.60.Jv, 72.10.Fk Typeset using REVTEX 1

متن کاملTomonaga–Luttinger physics in electronic quantum circuits
In one-dimensional conductors, interactions result in correlated electronic systems. At low energy, a hallmark signature of the so-called Tomonaga-Luttinger liquids is the universal conductance curve predicted in presence of an impurity. A seemingly different topic is the quantum laws of electricity, when distinct quantum conductors are assembled in a circuit. In particular, the conductances ar...
متن کاملLow Temperature Behavior of the Kondo Effect in Tomonaga-Luttinger Liquid
Using the bosonization method, we study the low temperature behavior of the Kondo effect in the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid and clearly show that the power law temperature dependence of the impurity susceptibility is completely determined by the repulsive electron-electron interaction existing in the total spin channel and is independent of the electron-electron interaction existing in the charge...
متن کاملMagnetic Impurity in a Luttinger Liquid : A
Exact results are reported for the low-temperature thermodynamics of a spin-1 2 magnetic impurity coupled to a 1D interacting electron system. The use of conformal eld theory techniques reveals that there are only two types of critical behaviors consistent with the symmetries of the problem: either a local Fermi liquid, or else a theory identical to that recently proposed by Furusaki and Nagaos...
متن کاملQuantum criticality and the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid in one-dimensional Bose gases.
We experimentally investigate the quantum criticality and Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid (TLL) behavior within one-dimensional (1D) ultracold atomic gases. Based on the measured density profiles at different temperatures, the universal scaling laws of thermodynamic quantities are observed. The quantum critical regime and the relevant crossover temperatures are determined through the double-peak stru...
